Jim was initially recruited to manage a ground-breaking event for 2,500 alumni, then asked to apply for a new permanent position as Head of Alumni Relations
to provide strategic direction for the alumni office and engage with over 130,000 Loughborough alumni.

Key achievements & activities included:

- Management of the UK’s largest alumni event - a one-off Centenary Graduation weekend for 2,500 guests that won Best Alumni Fundraising Initiative at the 2010 Heist Awards for Education Alumni Fundraising Campaign.

- The design and launch of six new engagement programmes, each targeting different alumni audiences (including BOND business networking events and Loughborough Sporting Club launched by club president Lord Sebastian Coe at a dinner at the House of Lords, and actively supported by high profile alumni including Sir Clive Woodward and Nick Knight who head up their respective sports)

- Introduction of new communications strategy, including redesign of magazine, website, and alumni brand.

- Working relationships developed with individuals, departments and support services within the University previously not engaged with the department.
